CARRIE DIARIES VOL. 1
I recently found my mom's old purse as I was going through boxes. Being me, I decided to get creative and pull a Carrie Bradshaw and I was very happy with the result. Then I had another thought..
The purse inspired me to do a fun little style series on my blog featuring young Carrie Bradshaw's aesthetic. As someone who was blessed with naturally curly, frizzy hair (not pictured) I've always loved 80's fashion. Since Carrie Bradshaw is, in a way, the OG fashion blogger I enjoyed watching The Carrie Diaries a lot since it takes place in the 80s, and I was really inspired by her style. Also, her ambition as a young woman and resistance to conform to "the norm" is something I can definitely relate to. (To all my Sex and the City fans, you should definitely check out the Carrie Diaries-available on Netflix!) Here is the first of 6 looks in this series. xo
A little disclaimer.. it is not my intention to replicate these looks, but to use elements of Carrie's personal style as my muse. Pictured below is what inspired this first look. What caught my attention was the loose tie blouse paired with the pencil skirt, so I took those elements and made them my own. I also loved the simplicity of the pointed toed shoes--I ditched the heels and opted for flats. Carrie also wore thick chunky belts often so I added that to this look myself along with some 80s hoop earrings. I'd love to share all the outfit details but my entire outfit was purchased at GOODWILL and probably cost me less than $13.
